If My Friends Could See Me Now

If My Friends Could See Me Now

Year: 2013, Month: April

Australia > Victoria > Melbourne

Its not every day that you get to see an Australian man voluntarily wearing a dress, so I was a little surprised to be presented with this unique sight whilst visiting the centre of the city of Melbourne on a rather dreary day in late 2012. An advertising company has set up a large backdrop of an opera house in Federation Square, a popular meeting place in the downtown area, just outside the historic Flinders Street railway station. They were getting volunteer passers-by to dress up in ballet costume, and to then be filmed by a professional camera crew. I am rather annoyed at myself for not trying to find out just 'why' this was happening - I was more interested in grabbing some photos of my own to document this very strange occurence. If you know what was going on, please contact me. If not, just enjoy this rather strange sight of one man and his dog. Incidentally, the circular platform that they are standing on revolved, and the dog, though surprised by events, did a very good job of being a ballet star before the moving floor made him a little dizzy, and he dashed off through the gentleman's legs, tangling all up with the lead and causing great hilarity.
