Viewed in landscape mode, this photograph looks just like what it is: a girl in a bikini enjoying the warm waters off the Brazilian coast, near Parati.

But viewed from this angle, in portrait mode, the photograph takes on a totally new aspect.

A wall of green. Is it a wall of falling water?

Maybe some 'Alice through the Looking Glass' medium, some other-wordly viscous layer that she is moving through?

Is she emerging, or sinking back?

Is she aware that she has slipped through into the gaze of the viewer?

What about the pose? So reminiscent of Christ on the Cross. An allegorical image. A modern Mary Magdalene, maybe?

I'll leave it to the viewer to decide...
